Plan of Salvation

“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”    ~ Romans 10:13

PLAN OF SALVATION

The Bible says “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” So many people ask the question, “How are you born again?” There are four things that we must do to get to Heaven.  These are sometimes referred to as the Four “R’s”.

1. Realize – You must realize...you are a sinner. The Bible says in Romans 3:10, “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:” Romans 3:23, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” The Bible says because of our sin we come short of the glory of God. There is no one that starts off good and gets better, but we all start off sinners. This is why we need a Saviour.

2. Recognize – You must recognizethe penalty for our sin. The Bible says in Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” In Revelation 21:8, “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” The Bible tells us the penalty of our sin is death and Hell. Recognize the payment of sin came from Jesus Christ as a gift to us. In Romans 6:23, “…but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” The Bible also tells us in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” You see God sent His son to be our payment for sin. Jesus gave his life on the cross for us. Romans 5:8, “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” You see my friend we must realize we are sinner and recognize where we are going without Jesus Christ as our Saviour.

3. RepentYou must repent of your sin.  Luke 13:3, “I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.” Repentance is a turning from your sin to God or being sorry for your sin. After all, it our sin that we needs to be forgiven. Mark 1:15, “And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.”

4. Receive – You must receive Jesus into your heart. The Bible says in Romans 10:13, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Receiving Jesus is believing that He died for you, and took your sin, and that He rose again from the grave. It is saying “Yes, Lord I receive you into my heart and life.”

Review: You are sinner in need of a Saviour. He came and died for you so that you could have a home in Heaven. If you repent from your sin and ask Him to come in and be your Lord and Saviour.
